Hi! I'm Amy.

Hi, I'm the creative force behind Purple Pineapple Studio. I've been sewing since I was a wee baby, quilting since 1998, and designing quilt patterns since 2015. What started as a passion quickly grew into something I couldn't stop doing.

I'm entirely self-taught, which means I've learned every lesson the hard way, and loved every minute of it. I specialize in modern, approachable quilts that feel achievable for quilters of any level, and look like you spent weeks on them, even if you didn't.

Before I traded grant management for quilt patterns, I earned a degree in Urban Planning. So yes, I really do love a good system, a clean grid, and making complex things make sense on paper.

There's nothing more satisfying than designing patterns that come together beautifully, and fitting an entire one onto a 5" x 7" postcard is my favorite creative challenge. Clear diagrams, succinct directions, just enough space to get it right. Constraints drive creativity, and I'm absolutely here for it.

I'm a founding member and past President of the Madison Modern Quilt Guild. When I'm not sketching new ideas or wrestling with postcard layouts, you'll find me vending and sharing my latest designs at quilt shows all across the country from California to Virginia, and everywhere in between, while wearing a sparkly purple pineapple on my head.

I live nestled in the beautiful Driftless Area of Wisconsin with my husband, mom, puppy Yoshi, and a fabric stash that is definitely not out of control. (It's out of control.)
